The third International Conference of the Sustainable Consumption Research and Action Initiative (SCORAI) was held in Copenhagen in June 27–30 2018. The SCORAI initiative is a global network of researchers aiming for innovative research in the area of sustainable consumption, while also bridging academic research with mainstream thinking and policy making. The conference in Copenhagen gathered about 200 participants from academia, policy makers and the business sector. Two papers on Short Food Supply Chains (SFSC) based on the research in WP7 of the Strenght2Food project were presented in a special session on Alternative Food Networks. The first paper explored the potentials and challenges for collaboration between farmers and consumers in a consumer-driven food cooperative in Norway. While the second paper presented results from a comparative study of 12 European cases discussing consumers’ motivations for participating in SFSCs. The papers was presented by the work package leader Gunnar Vittersø together with Kirsi Laitala and Hanne Torjusen all from Consumption Research Norway (SIFO), and co-authored by the partners of WP7.
